How to Apply for
a New Energy Foundation Research and Development Grant
As charitable contributions accumulate at New Energy Foundation (NEF), some of the Foundation's funds—beyond what is required to sustain Infinite Energy Magazine's publication activities and general operations of the Foundation—will be assigned to worthwhile scientific research and engineering development projects in new energy. Regardless of the size of the discretionary fund in the early stages, we encourage prospective applicants to apply for such funding, because the growing roster of worthy, approved projects that need to be funded will encourage charitable benefactors to donate. Furthermore, we at NEF need to form a better picture of the quantity and character of quality research in new energy that is in need of funding. We already know of many such projects, but how many more may be lurking unnoticed is not known. So, after reading our criteria and application procedure, please do apply for funding if there appears to be a fit.
In some cases, it may be possible to assign a specific donor to a particular project (per the donor's wishes or preferences), but in most cases the NEF R&D grant will be awarded from the general charitable fund. Of course, the grant application will have to provide the information that is being requested and it will have to meet high standards in a competitive arena. Please be aware: We are not interested in wasting time or resources on ill-defined projects, or claims of experimental results or device performance that cannot be verified in a straightforward and cost-effective way!
Kinds of Research and
Development of Interest
NEF is very interested in any and all research that will further the goals of achieving technological devices in new energy generation and propulsion-devices that embody new, controversial physics. NEF is not interested in conventional renewables projects, such as conventional solar power, wind power, and hydrogen fuel cells—these are old energy (energy forms that are well known and accepted). NEF is also interested in alternative medical or biological investigations and treatment when it is suspected that a previously not understood physics is at work in the novel biomedical system.
Though NEF very much appreciates theoretical work in the new energy field, it will not fund speculation done on paper to develop and explore new scientific theories per se. NEF will only fund work that involves the gathering of experimental or other observational evidence. NEF is only interested in research that explores radically new physics principles, and is especially interested in devices and processes with a claimed over-unity character—more energy output than input. So much the better, if the claimed process or device is "self-sustaining" (no input power provided from a conventional source).
A high priority for NEF, but not an iron clad requirement, is to have the funded R&D project lead to publication of results that would be of interest to other scientific parties—publication either in Infinite Energy or in another technical publication. Also, NEF is especially interested in small, portable and marketable devices that exhibit surprising effects that are not explainable within presently accepted physics. The outcome of an R&D project does not have to be a new energy device that powers a house or heats a room! Scale-up can come later. The first priority is to develop new energy devices—even very small ones that can be put into broad circulation so that old paradigms are thereby unsettled or demolished. As a non-profit corporation, NEF may work with for-profit entities to help get their new energy demonstration devices onto market.
R&D
Grant Application Procedure (click
here for a Word .doc Application) 1. The NEF prefers to receive grant applications (which will usually include large files with diagrams, photos, graphics, publications) via mail. An e-mail query to General Manager Christy Frazier (staff@infinite-energy.com), alerting her to a possible application that may be forthcoming by hard copy mail, is appropriate but not necessary. Some applications are accepted via email, but it is preferred that the applicant requests permission to do so beforehand. 2.
Send R&D grant application materials by air or surface mail to:
Christy Frazier, General Manager
New Energy Foundation, Inc. P.O. Box 2816 Concord,
NH 03302-2816 PLEASE BE SURE to provide the basic information that is requested below (and which appears on the downloadable application)! Incomplete applications cannot be processed. 3. Receipt of your application will be acknowledged. You will be notified when your application has been reviewed more thoroughly and a brief appraisal given about the prospects for funding.
4.
If you believe that to protect your intellectual property you require NEF to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with you before sending Ms. Frazier your full application, please send your NDA to her first. If it is acceptable, it will be signed and then mailed and/or faxed back to you. In the event that you need us to prepare an NDA for you, we have appended our standard NDA form to this section.

Nature of the organization (if any) -sole proprietorship, partnership, or corporation. A brief description-size, when founded, staff, accomplishments, etc. Is the organization for-profit or non-profit? Does the organization (or individual applicant) have a website? If so, what is its URL? -
The complete mailing address to which a response from NEF is to be sent. -
An e-mail address for questions from NEF. -
Telephone number(s) for questions from NEF. -
Fax
number for questions from NEF. -
What is the overall
objective of the research and why is it worth doing? What are the intermediate
milestones to be achieved? -
Background of the invention
or discovery, testing, observation, theorizing, etc. that led to this request
for funding. Provide details of past test results in the area of this research. -
IMPORTANT QUESTION TO BE ANSWERED: Is the research and development
being proposed the clear intellectual property or research area of the proposer(s),
or should NEF be informed of others on whose earlier work the proposed R&D
closely builds or follows? (Needless to say, your full integrity and disclosure
is expected, otherwise do not apply for funding.) -
Have patents either been granted or applied for governing the proposed technologies?
If so, please provide details. -
Has this work been
funded by anyone else or any other organization in the past? If so, please provide
as complete a description of this funding as possible. Note if there is another
person or organization partially funding this work now, please disclose this. -
Description of the Research and/or Development to be carried
out: Provide as extensive and detailed a description as possible (equipment and
staff needed, how the work is to be done, results hoped for, etc.). Please be
sure to define the sequence of work that is to be carried out and how much time
is estimated to be needed for each phase of the work. -
